It may also be used as a standard to spike pump oil to form excellent standard generator for solid-phase microextraction (SPME).

Ethylbenzene is a colorless liquid, which has an aromatic odor. It is widely used in the manufacturing of styrene and as a solvent. It is insoluble in water.
